Candle Lighting Ceremony is December 13

The Children’s Center offers a grief support group to families who have experienced the death of a child. Each year, a candle-light service is held to give parents the chance to share the memory of their child with others. A child is always a child, so it may be a child of very young age through the age of an adult child.

This year’s Worldwide Candle Lighting Day of Remembrance for Children will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 13 at the Workforce Development Center, 100 N. College Drive, Franklin. The event is free of charge. Those in attendance may bring a memory item such as a picture or toy to place by your candle, and take your candle home and light it during the holiday season and when you’re missing your child.

For more information about the ceremony or out-reach, please contact Rosalind Cutchins at (757) 562-6806.

A monthly grief support meeting is held at the Texie Camp Marks Children’s Center, 700 Campbell Avenue in Franklin, at 7:00 pm on the 3rd Monday of the month.
