Rainbow theme continued

Known for its quality early childhood programs throughout Western Tidewater, the Children’s Center has unveiled a new logo that will be quickly recognized in the community.

The new logo continues with the familiar rainbow theme, but with a more modern look, which suggests movement. The three-colored rainbow can also be easily reproduced. The font used for the name is more child-like than in the previous logo.

“Although we knew the Children’s Center logo was quite recognizable, it was time we took a step back and looked at where we were going,” said Jeff Zeigler, Community Relations Coordinator. “After quite a bit of research and two branding focus groups, we decided to make some changes. At the same time, research suggested that we keep the continuity of the rainbow.”

The Center decided on the idea of a logo change after writing a new marketing plan and conducting branding research. Focus groups were conducted by Cindy Thomason of Millview Consulting of Franklin.

The new logo was designed by Laura Robb of RedDesign Web and Print Room of Suffolk. Laura is a Children’s Center alumni.

“We were really excited to work with Laura because of her connection with the Children’s Center,” said Jeff Zeigler, Community Relations Coordinator. “It turned out to be a great relationship. Laura really captured what we were after and designed the logo quickly and efficiently.”

The logo will be rolled out in stages over the next few months, Zeigler said.

The Children’s Center is a private, nonprofit organization (501(c)(3) tax exempt) that has served families living in Western Tidewater (Suffolk, Isle of Wight County, Franklin, and Southampton County) since 1983. The Center serves children of all levels of ability, including those with disabilities, and those who are economically disadvantaged.  The Children’s Center’s mission is to nurture and educate children and their families.

The Children’s Center provides Early Head Start services to children ages birth to three and pregnant women, early intervention to infants and toddlers with delays in development, licensed pediatric therapy, and licensed early care and education for children six weeks to five years of age.  These programs are provided in the child’s home and in integrated settings at five sites throughout Western Tidewater.
